Edwin Diaz Now At 54 Saves
6 years agoSeattle Mariners closer Edwin Diaz nailed down his 54th save of the season in the Mariners 3-2 win over the Yankees. Diaz struck out one hitter in the scoreless frame and now is eight saves away from the single-season record of 62 saves. He now has not allowed a run since August 18 and has a 0.89 ERA since the All-Star break with 39 strikeouts through 20 1/3 innings. He has converted 27 of his last 28 save chances and still has an outside shot at the record.
