Edwin Diaz Notches Major League-Leading 29th Save
6 years agoSeattle Mariners closer Edwin Diaz picked up his 29th save Tuesday night in the team's 3-2 win over the Orioles. Diaz is far and away the leader in saves around the league and is cruising towards his first All-Star appearance. It was his 10th save of the month and lowered his WHIP to an impressive 0.90 after the outing. Diaz now has 66 strikeouts through 41 innings pitched and has allowed only 24 hits all season. Right-handed hitters are batting only .183 against him this season and Diaz has shut down left-handed hitters to the tune of a .150 batting average with a .200 slugging percentage. Diaz is a top closer in the game and has been an absolute fantasy steal to this point in the season.
