Edwin Diaz Locks Down Third Save
4 years agoNew York Mets closer Edwin Diaz picked up his third save of the season on Saturday by pitching a clean ninth inning in the Mets' 5-4 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia. Diaz didn't allow a baserunner and struck out two to convert his third save in as many chances in 2021. Diaz now owns a 1.80 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP, and a 13:3 K:BB in 10 innings pitched on the season. Diaz, who has looked dominant so far in 2021, has picked up where he left off in 2020, suggesting that his poor 2019 campaign may have been an outlier. Diaz remains a top relief pitcher option in all fantasy formats, particularly pitching for a Mets team that will be in playoff contention playing a number of close games.
