Edwin Diaz First Player To 40 Saves This Season
6 years agoSeattle Mariners closer Edwin Diaz notched his 40th save of the season as the Mariners inched closer to the division-leading Astros with a 2-0 win Monday night. Diaz leads all pitchers with 40 saves by a large margin and continues to dominate the opposition. He has struck out 87 hitters in only 53 innings pitched while allowing only 27 hits. He lowered his WHIP to 0.79 and has not allowed an earned run since June 23. The Mariners continue to play in close ballgames and Diaz should continue to see plenty of save opportunities moving forward.
