Edward Cabrera Promoted To Triple-A
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera has been promoted to Triple-A Jacksonville. Cabrera, baseball's No. 51 overall prospect, opened the season with a right biceps issue but settled in nicely for Double-A Pensacola, where he had a 2.77 ERA, 33 strikeouts and just six walks in 26 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander also threw six scoreless innings in two starts for Single-A Jupiter earlier this year, striking out 11 hitters and walking none. The 6-foot-5 Dominican induces plenty of weak contact with a fastball that can reach triple digits while also generating heavy life. Cabrera's fastball-slider combination can be deadly when he's locked in and throwing strikes, and his changeup can be a solid third pitch. There's a chance that he'll enter Miami's rotation later this year, but those in redraft leagues probably won't be interested until 2022.
