With the Philadelphia Phillies leading 6-2 in the ninth inning of Thursday’s series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, manager Gabe Kapler once again called on relief pitcher Edubray Ramos to see out the game. The 25-year-old, who recorded his first save of the season in a surprise opportunity on Sunday afternoon, entered in a non-save situation. Things did not go well for the Venezuelan, as he surrendered two singles to begin the frame, bringing the tying run to the on-deck circle. After recording one out, he allowed yet another single, loading the bases. While Kapler could’ve gone to another arm in the bullpen, he stuck with Ramos, who induced a lineout and groundout to wrap up the game.--RDelgado
