Edgar Santana Tosses Perfect Inning Against Blue Jays Friday
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Edgar Santana allowed no baserunners while striking out two in a 2-1 victory over the Blue Jays on Friday afternoon. Santana has not allowed a baserunner so far this spring, while striking out four in three innings of work. He has not pitched in a major league game since 2018, as he dealt with Tommy John surgery that kept him out of 2019, and then a PED suspension kept him from playing last year. The Pirates have more options than openings in their bullpen, but Santana is making a strong case for breaking camp with the team, and if he does he could be a solid play in saves/holds leagues with good strikeout potential.
