3 years agoThe New York Jets have decided to release kicker Eddy Pineiro on Tuesday. He was battling with Greg Zuerlein for the starting kicker gig. Pineiro did fine with the Jets last year as he only missed one field goal attempt in five games. However, it sounds like he struggled during training camp, so the Jets decided to go with the veteran kicker. Possibly, Pineiro lands elsewhere, but his fantasy value could be dependent on where he goes. To be honest, any kicker on the Jets isn't going to be a favorable fantasy option. This offense struggled to move the ball last season, but Zuerlein does have a strong leg. Possibly, he can carve out some fantasy value in New York, but there should be better kicker options available.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

2 months agoCarolina Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro hasn't gotten many opportunities to kick field goals the past few weeks. Over the past four games, he has only attempted three field goals. The silver lining for Pineiro is that between Weeks 10 and 13, he made nine of his 11 field goal attempts. In Week 18, the Panthers take on their division rivals, the Atlanta Falcons, who have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing kickers, giving some hope for Pineiro in this contest. However, the lack of consistent attempts makes it difficult for fantasy managers to trust Pineiro in this one. The 29-year-old comes in as K27 in the latest RotoBaller kicker rankings for Week 18. Last week, Pineiro connected on 3-of-4 extra point attempts and his lone field goal in the win over the Arizona Cardinals. Now, Pineiro heads into a matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17. A team he made three field goals against in Week 13. The 29-year-old also missed two field goals during that game. 3 months agoCarolina Panthers placekicker Eddy Pineiro has had an up-and-down season in Carolina but will look to finish strong, starting with a Week 16 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Pineiro ranks 20th in field goal conversion percentage and 27th in extra point percentage. However, his opportunities to keep his leg warm with in-game reps have sometimes been scarce, attempting just one field goal over his last two games. It will be his lowest-scoring season of the three in Carolina, so he remains a low-end streaming option this week. The Cardinals did allow a five-field goal game to the Los Angeles Chargers earlier this season. With the lack of opportunities, Pineiro is ranked 24th in the latest RotoBaller kicker rankings and is mainly a streamer in very deep leagues.--Travis Kincaid

The Panthers offense finally coming alive has given Pineiro more streaming appeal lately. However, he remains a risky streaming choice ahead of the Week 15 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
