Early Hook Of Aaron Nola Dooms Phillies
7 years agoYoung ace Aaron Nola did his job for the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday afternoon in Atlanta on Opening Day. The 24-year-old was pulled with one on and one out in the sixth inning, having surrendered just three hits while walking one and striking out three. Shockingly, Nola only tossed 68 pitches before his removal. The ensuing pitcher allowed a two-run home run, costing Nola his only run of the game. The Philadelphia bullpen would later blow the lead and lose the game in extra innings. For Nola, however, this was just the kind of start needed to ease the pressure of being a No. 1 starter and raise confidence in what has all the makings of a career year.
