Eagles Sign Kerryon Johnson To Practice Squad
3 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles signed running back Kerryon Johnson and offensive lineman Luke Juriga to their practice squad on Tuesday and released kicker Matt McCrane from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Johnson saw nine special teams snaps with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3, but otherwise has been making the rounds as a free agent trying out for running back-needy teams. Miles Sanders broke his hand in the Week 16 win over the New York Giants and was already ruled out for Week 17 against the Washington Football Team, so the Eagles are in need of some depth at the position in case Sanders cannot return to close out the regular season. The Eagles will lean on a backfield committee of Jordan Howard (neck), Boston Scott and rookie Kenneth Gainwell for the foreseeable future.
