The Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent quarterback Ian Book to their practice squad on Thursday after he visited with the team on Wednesday, according to sources. Jalen Hurts (concussion) was listed as a DNP on Wednesday's estimated practice report, while backup Kenny Pickett (ribs) was limited. With Philly's QB room banged up heading into their Week 17 tilt versus the division-rival Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the Eagles now have extra QB insurance with Tanner McKee and Book. Fantasy managers that have been riding Hurts all year should be a bit worried that he won't be cleared to play this weekend. You should have a backup plan in place in case Hurts doesn't gain clearance from an independent neurologist later this week. If anyone but Hurts is under center on Sunday leading the Eagles' offense, it will be bad news for running back Saquon Barkley and receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Seattle Seahawks worked out quarterback Ian Book, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. The Saints drafted Book as a fourth-round pick in the 2021 draft and he has since spent time with the Eagles, Patriots, and Chiefs. With Geno Smith and Sam Howell solidified as the starter and backup at the quarterback position, the Seahawks likely view Book as a depth option. He should not be fantasy-relevant even if he were to sign with Seattle.--Brian Buckey - RotoBaller

The San Francisco 49ers are working out free-agent quarterback Ian Book on Tuesday, according to a source. Book found himself on the open market when he was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles during training camp. The 25-year-old former fourth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2021 out of Notre Dame has made just one start (in his rookie season) with the Saints and went 12-for-20 for 135 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. If he lands in San Francisco, he'll join the team's practice squad and serve as QB depth behind Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Philadelphia Eagles claimed quarterback Ian Book off waivers from the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday. The Saints waived Book on roster cutdown day on Tuesday, but he'll resurface quickly in Philadelphia. The 24-year-old fourth-round pick went 12-for-20 for 135 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in a 20-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins in 2021 in the only start of his rookie campaign. With the Eagles, he'll serve as the No. 3 signal-caller behind starter Jalen Hurts and backup Gardner Minshew.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The New Orleans Saints released quarterback Ian Book on Tuesday, according to a source. Book will be a practice-squad target if he clears waivers. In the team's preseason finale last Friday against the Los Angeles Chargers, the 24-year-old went 11-for-15 for 81 yards and a touchdown, also adding a 50-yard run. The Saints will roll with starter Jameis Winston and backup Andy Dalton into Week 1 of the regular season, and Book would be the third option if he rejoins the team. The former fourth-round pick last year started one game in his rookie season in 2021, going 12-for-20 for 135 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in a 20-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
