The Philadelphia Eagles hired former Detroit Lions head coach and New England Patriots assistant Matt Patricia as a senior defensive assistant on Thursday, according to sources. "Obviously his résumé speaks for itself. It gives you a great mind in there that's done it at the highest level," head coach Nick Sirianni said. Patricia was New England's defensive coordinator from 2012-17, but Bill Belichick asked him to be the offensive play-caller last year after Josh McDaniels left for the head-coaching job in Las Vegas. The 48-year-old also was entrusted with implementing a new offensive scheme, which completely backfired last year. As a result, the Patriots hired Bill O'Brien to run their offense in 2023, while Patricia will go back to his defensive roots in Philly.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
