Barriault was outstruck in all three rounds by Curtis, as the Canadian falls to be the pressure fighter that he usually is. With the loss to Curtis at UFC 297, Barriault dropped to 16-7 and one No Contest as a pro and 5-6 and 1 NC in the UFC. The loss to Curtis also snapped his two-fight winning streak as Barriault will likely need to win a few fights in a row to get another shot at a ranked opponent.

Barriault is coming off a decision win over Eryk Anders at UFC 289 in Vancouver in June, and the Quebec native will now face Chris Curtis at UFC 297 in Toronto. In 15 minutes of action, Barriault tallied 95 significant strikes (103 total strikes) compared to that of the 83 significant strikes (87 total strikes) of Anders. Barriault's wrestling defense was on point, stuffing 10 of Anders' 11 takedown tries on the night. The victory moves Barriault to 5-5 in the UFC, and he's now won three of his last four fights.
