Dustin Pedroia Approaching Rehab Assignment
6 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (knee) played eight innings in extended spring training on Sunday and is scheduled for nine innings on Tuesday. He will then head to Single-A Greenville to start a rehab assignment. There remains no timetable for Pedroia's return to Boston, but there's a chance he could play in the team's home opener on April 9. The 35-year-old played in just three games last year while trying to come back from serious knee surgery, so fantasy owners shouldn't have much expectation for him this year. Boston also has Eduardo Nunez and Brock Holt who are capable of playing the keystone, so Pedroia won't have any guarantees, even if he's healthy.
