Drew VerHagen To Make A Rehab Start On Thursday
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-hander Drew VerHagen (hip) is expected to throw a bullpen session in St. Louis on Tuesday and then make another rehab start at Double-A Springfield on Thursday. VerHagen was placed on the injured list on April 22 due to a right hip impingement, and he received an injection in his hip the following day. He gave up one run while walking one and striking out two in 1 2/3 innings in a rehab outing for Triple-A Memphis on May 3. VerHagen didn't make an expected rehab start for Memphis on May 7, but manager Oliver Marmol said it wasn't due to a setback in his recovery. Once he's ready to return, the 31-year-old should return to a long-relief role in St. Louis' bullpen.
