Drew VerHagen Could Return On Saturday
1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-hander Drew VerHagen (hip) came through his one-inning minor-league rehab stint well on Thursday. If he recovers well on Friday, he could come off the 15-day injured list on Saturday to rejoin the Cardinals' bullpen. The 32-year-old reliever gave up a run on Thursday for Double-A Springfield, but he looks to be on the verge of returning to the big-league roster. VerHagen hasn't been fantasy relevant this year with his 4.78 ERA (4.85 FIP), 1.46 WHIP, 18 walks and 38 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings pitched over 35 relief outings for the Red Birds. In eight major-league seasons, he's sporting a 5.19 ERA (4.92 FIP), 1.47 WHIP and 212 strikeouts in 258 1/3 innings over 181 appearances (eight starts).
