Drew Steckenrider Earns Sixth Save
3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Drew Steckenrider earned his sixth save of the season Tuesday in a 5-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics. It was also his longest appearance of the year at 2 1/3 innings. He gave up two hits and struck out one batter. Steckenrider is second in the pecking order for saves in Seattle behind Paul Sewald, but with the Mariners frequently opting to deploy Sewald in high-leverage situations, Steckenrider figures to see the occasional opportunity. With a 1.90 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts in 52 innings on the year, Steckenrider does carry value in deeper leagues, especially those that reward holds.
