Drew Pomeranz Day-To-Day With Shoulder Tightness
4 years agoSan Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler revealed reliever Drew Pomeranz (shoulder) is day-to-day with shoulder tightness. This explains his absence the past couple nights in close contests. The 31-year-old has excelled as a full-time reliever, tossing nine scoreless innings with a 0.44 WHIP and 39 percent strikeout rate. With four saves, he was the clear successor to injured closer Kirby Yates (elbow). With Pomeranz out, the Friars have a gaping late-inning hole as their other arms have struggled. Probably utilizing a committee approach, best bets for saves are Emilio Pagan, Adrian Morejon, Craig Stammen and Matt Strahm. Fantasy squads rostering Pomeranz are advised to hold tight for further updates as he’s the clear lead dog in the bullpen.
