Drew Pomeranz Bails Out Kirby Yates For Save
4 years agoSan Diego Padres reliever Kirby Yates entered the ninth inning in Friday's game against the Rockies with a three-run lead, but after allowing two runs and loading the bases, Drew Pomeranz was brought in to clean up the mess. Pomeranz then retired Chris Owings to seal the victory, earning himself his second save of the year after tossing a clean ninth earlier this week. That's now back-to-back outings where Yates has allowed two runs and failed to finish off his inning after a dominant 2019 season where he never allowed more than a single run in an inning all year. With Emilio Pagan also struggling in the Friars bullpen, Pomeranz could be in line for more ninth-inning work, and is worth scooping up in all formats.
