Don't Hate Cameron Brate
5 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate was a no-show once again versus the leaky Giants Defense, finishing with seven yards and two receptions. Both Tampa Bay tight ends have been silent to start the season. Head coach Bruce Arians while still with the Cardinals mentioned that he likes to get the ball to his top receivers, saying, “We pay Larry (Fitzgerald) and those guys too much money to throw it to the tight ends. They’re here to block.” It seems this sentiment has been the same in Tampa. He also mentioned it's a "tight end-friendly offense" over the summer. With wide receiver Chris Godwin a bit gimpy and Mike Evans coming off the fantasy game of the year and sure to gain all the focus of the tough Rams Defense, maybe this will be their best opportunity for a score. The Bucs tight end touchdown drought should end this week and it could be more than one. Brate is still a touchdown-dependent TE2, but this could be the week you can depend on him.
