7 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Dominic Smith (quadriceps) still has enough pain in his quad to prevent him from running, but he is hoping to play in a spring game before the team breaks camp. The Mets were already skeptical of using Smith as the everyday first baseman heading into 2018 after he struggled to a .198/.262/.395 slash line with nine homers and 26 RBI in his first 167 big league at-bats last year. That's why they signed veteran Adrian Gonzalez, who is expected to start the season as the starter. Expect Smith to begin the year in the minors.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
