Dominic Smith Heating Up At The Plate
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder/first baseman Dominic Smith went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Mets' 7-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Smith, who has struggled at the plate to start the season, is now beginning to get hot. With Wednesday's performance, he raised his slash line to .250/.295/.356 to go with two home runs and 14 RBI on the season. More notably, he has hit .364/.462/.409 with five RBI over his last seven games. He is also now clobbering breaking balls and offspeed pitches, batting .308 and .429 against those offerings, respectively, in the month of May. With his early-season struggles against breaking and offspeed pitches behind him, Smith appears ready to break out. Fantasy managers who have, justifiably, been sitting Smith should think about getting his bat back in their lineups. If he has been prematurely dropped in shallow leagues by impatient managers, he should be scooped up off of waiver wires immediately.
