Domingo Santana Agrees To One-Year Deal With Indians
5 years agoOutfielder Domingo Santana and the Cleveland Indians have come to terms on a one-year deal, pending that the 27-year-old passes a physical, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Santana had a .253 batting average last season for the Seattle Mariners. He hit 21 home runs and drove in 69 runs in 121 games played. Cleveland is without top-level talent in the outfield, which means Santana has a legitimate chance at a sizeable role for the Indians in 2020. He doesn't come without weaknesses, however. He had the highest strikeout percentage in the major leagues (32.3%) and his defense is lacking. For fantasy purposes, he's unlikely to be drafted in most mixed leagues but could potentially be a waiver wire pickup if he solidifies consistent playing time. He is a streaky hitter who has marginal value unless he's hot.
