Domingo German Playing Catch
5 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German (hip) played catch on Monday for the first time in his rehab and was scheduled to do so again on Tuesday. He's no longer feeling pain in his hip flexor and is doing exercises and stretches he couldn't do when he was first hurt. There still isn't a timetable for his return, but the good news is that he's making progress. The 26-year-old right-hander was 9-2 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 77 strikeouts and 19 walks in 70 innings over 12 starts and one relief outing before his injury. His FIP of 4.06 shows that some regression could be coming in the second half, but German has been a fine source of pitching statistics in 2019. The Yankees could also be cautious with him to finish out the season, as he's never thrown more than 85 2/3 innings in the majors in his three years.
