Dom Hamel Tosses Five Shutout Frames In Season Debut
17 seconds agoNew York Mets right-handed pitcher Dom Hamel tossed five shutout innings in his Triple-A season debut on Wednesday evening. Hamel allowed just two hits and struck out three batters. This was a strong season debut for Hamel, who was in the mix to make the Opening Day roster. Even though Hamel fell short in the competition, the Mets could call his name later this summer. He was drafted in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Dallas Baptist. Last summer, he spent the entire campaign with Triple-A Syracuse and held a high 6.79 ERA with a 1.75 WHIP across 124 2/3 innings (27 starts). However, the right-hander was able to enjoy a strong season debut with Syracuse, which is a promising sign. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Hamel's progression at Triple-A as he could be in the mix for his MLB debut later in the summer.
