Dodgers Sign Pedro Baez To Minors Deal
3 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent relief pitcher Pedro Baez to a minor league deal on Thursday and assigned him to the Arizona Complex League. Baez, 34, was designated for assignment by the Houston Astros at the end of April. Before he was cut, he allowed three earned runs while walking three and striking out two in just 2 1/3 relief innings for Houston. The right-hander began his major league career with the Dodgers, pitching for them from 2014-20. Baez showed a considerable drop in velocity earlier this season, and it's worth noting after he missed most of his first season with the Astros due to a shoulder injury. He'll have to prove he's past his injury in the minors before the Dodgers consider adding him to their bullpen.
