Dodgers Could Be Targeting Pablo Lopez
2 years agoAccording to Jack Harris of the LA Times, the Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly targeting Miami Marlins right-hander Pablo Lopez ahead of MLB's August 2 trade deadline. Harris does go on to Tweet that a deal for Lopez would probably only take place if the Dodgers don't land Juan Soto at the deadline. The two teams have apparently had discussions centered around Lopez, who will still be under team control for two years after the 2022 season. Lopez has a 7-6 record, 3.41 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 119 strikeouts over 118 2/3 innings of work in 2022. The 26-year-old is one of the more talented arms in the National League, although he does come with some injury concerns. The return for Lopez should be substantial if the Marlins do decide to deal him.
