DK Metcalf May Not Bounce Back In The Face Of A Tough Matchup This Week
41 mins agoSeattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (shoulder) has struggled to produce for fantasy lately. To make matters worse, he has been battling various ailments over the last few weeks including a nagging shoulder injury. He should be good to go after being removed from the injury report on Friday. Metcalf's outlook may not improve in Week 15 when the Seahawks host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. The Packers are No. 9 against opposing wide receivers in fantasy football and Metcalf has struggled to find room to operate downfield since he returned from a sprained MCL in Week 11. Additionally, Metcalf has not always been quarterback Geno Smith's No. 1 target this season. With Jaxon Smith-Njigba emerging as an elite option, Smith is spreading the ball around more. Lastly, Metcalf's red zone targets are down this season. After earning 1.5 red zone targets per game in 2023, Metcalf has cut that number in half to 0.73 red zone targets per game this season. That number has significantly diminished his touchdown opportunities despite his yardage and reception totals being comparable to previous seasons. Metcalf is more of low-end WR2 until he can prove reliable as a high-end option once again. However, time is running out during this fantasy football season.
