DJ LeMahieu To Get Time At First Base
6 years agoNew York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu is working on expanding his skill set and is set to play first base in a spring game early next week. LeMahieu is expected to be the backup to either Greg Bird or Luke Voit at first this year, even though the 30-year-old has only played 13 innings at the position in the big leagues. He'll essentially function as a utility infielder for the Bombers in his first year in New York. The two-time All-Star hit .276 with 15 home runs and 62 RBI in 128 games for the Rockies last year, but he loses a lot of mixed league appeal because he won't be an everyday player anymore unless an injury occurs.
