DJ LeMahieu Diagnosed With Calf Strain, No Timetable For A Return
1 month agoAn MRI exam on New York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu (calf) on Wednesday showed that he's dealing with a left-calf strain, per Newsday's Erik Boland. LeMahieu will be shut down from baseball activities for at least a "couple of weeks." He has yet to talk about the MRI results with the team doctor, so there's currently no timetable for his return. The 36-year-old veteran injured his left calf in a Grapefruit League game last weekend. The Yankees haven't made any declarations about his Opening Day status at the end of March, but the way things currently look, we'd be surprised if LeMahieu didn't start the 2025 regular season on the injured list. The former second-round pick of the Chicago Cubs in 2009 out of LSU has won two batting titles in his career but has fallen off drastically the last few seasons. He played in only 67 games in 2024 and should be avoided in all mixed fantasy leagues. Oswaldo Cabrera is next in line to start at third base for the Yanks.
