DJ LeMahieu Could See Time In Leadoff Spot
6 years agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that "there could be some scenarios" where infielder DJ LeMahieu replaces outfielder Brett Gardner as the team's leadoff hitter against right-handed pitchers. LeMahieu has seen more playing time than expected because of the injury to Miguel Andujar, and he's taking advantage of it, hitting .410/.455/.538. Gardner, on the other hand, is slumping and hitting under .200 on the young season. Andujar probably won't be back anytime soon, so LeMahieu's value continues to be high in all leagues. It'll get even better if he sees time in the leadoff spot.
