Dillon Dingler Homers, Collects Three RBI On Friday
3 days agoDetroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler went 2-for-5 with a triple and a solo home run, collecting three RBI and scoring once in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Dodgers. The home run was a 410-foot blast that came in a two-strike count off of starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto that put the Tigers up 1-0 at that point in the game. The 6-foot-1 backstop hit at least 12 home runs or more in four consecutive seasons in the minors, but managed just one last year for the Tigers in 84 at-bats, so it's good to see him get the first one of 2025 out of the way early. The 26-year-old will split catching duties with veteran Jake Rogers, and whoever draws the start Saturday will have a tough task ahead of them with pitching phenom Roki Sasaki set to take the hill for Los Angeles.

Jake Rogers, Dillon Dingler Set To Split Catching Duties
2 months agoAccording to Evan Woodbery of MassLive.com, the Detroit Tigers catchers Jake Rogers and Dillon Dingler are expected to split duties during the 2025 season. Rogers spent the entire 2024 season with Detroit and held a .197/.255/.352 line with 16 doubles and 10 home runs. He was graded as an elite defender as he tallied eight blocks above average and was placed in the 91st percentile in framing. Dingler made his MLB debut late in the season and joined the Tigers during their postseason run. Across 27 games, the Ohio State product held a .167/.195/.310 line with one home run. However, at Triple-A, the former second-round selection posted a strong .308/.379/.559 slash line with 15 doubles, 17 long balls, and 52 RBI. While Rogers will likely operate as the No. 1 option, Dingler could be worth a look in deeper AL-only formats as he flashed elite hitting upside at the top level of the minor leagues. If he has a successful spring training, he could even begin to earn a larger share of the starts early into the season.

Dillon Dingler, Justyn-Henry Malloy Sitting For Tigers
8 months agoDetroit Tigers rookie catcher Dillon Dingler and outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy are both out of the starting lineup again on Wednesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park. It's hard for the Tigers to leave Jake Rogers out of the lineup after he hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs in the lopsided victory over Seattle on Tuesday. Dingler and Rogers have been splitting the catching duties evenly since the Tigers promoted Dingler from the minors, with the young backstop going 5-for-24 (.208) with a homer, three doubles and four RBI. Henry-Malloy's playing time figures to suffer with Kerry Carpenter back from the injured list. Carpenter hit two home runs in his return from a back injury on Tuesday and is serving as the designated hitter again while batting second versus Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo.

Dillon Dingler Not Seeing Stable Playing Time
8 months agoDetroit Tigers catching prospect Dillon Dingler has been unable to find stable playing time since joining the major league roster on July 28. In this span, the backstop has only started two games and gone 2-for-9 at the plate with one extra-base hit and a 2:3 BB:K ratio. 29-year-old Jake Rogers has continued to see the majority of starts. However, he holds a .197 AVG with just seven home runs across 68 games. At Triple-A this summer, Dingler posted a stellar .308/.379/.559 slash line with 17 home runs and 52 RBI. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Dingler's playing time as he could eventually take over starting duties in the Motor City, especially given Rogers' struggles.

Dillon Dingler Doubles In Big-League Debut
8 months agoDetroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler made his big-league debut on Monday and went 1-for-3 with a walk, double and RBI. Manager A.J. Hinch had no issue throwing Dingler straight into the fire and placed him in the No. 6 spot of the batting order. The backstop, who is the No. 11 prospect in the Tigers system per MLB Pipeline hit .308 with 15 doubles, 17 homers and 52 RBI in 263 at-bats for Triple-A Toledo this season. Not only does he hit the ball extremely hard and far, he is a good defender and that will help keep his bat in the lineup. Dingler's promotion came on the heels of Carson Kelly being dealt to the Texas Rangers and with Jake Rogers being the only other option on the roster, the 25-year-old should see a fair amount of playing time. He isn't a must-roster player, but those looking for power or a catcher in deeper leagues would be wise to monitor Dingler.
