Diego Castillo Secures 14th Save On Thursday
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Diego Castillo struck out two over a perfect inning to earn the save during Thursday's 5-4 extra-inning win over Cleveland. He entered the game in the 10th inning and tossed a perfect inning to secure his 14th save of the season. The 27-year-old has not allowed an earned run in his last eight innings. He owns a 2.80 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and a 49:10 K: BB across 35 1/3 innings in 2021. Castillo shares closing duties with Pete Fairbanks but has racked up 14 saves and three holds this season and is the primary reliever to roster in the Rays' bullpen.
