Diego Castillo Picks Up First Save In Return From Injured List
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays closer Diego Castillo picked up his first save since returning from the injured list on Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics. Castillo allowed a leadoff home run to Sean Murphy to begin the ninth inning before getting Seth Brown to ground out while striking out Vimael Machin and Matt Chapman. Despite his brief injured list stint due to COVID-19, Castillo is still the only relief arm in this bullpen with more than one save. Mix Castillo's ninth-inning safety with his 12.66 strikeouts per nine innings, and he is in the upper echelon of fantasy closers. Looking forward, fantasy managers should have a large amount of confidence that Pete Fairbanks' imminent return will not threaten Castillo's ninth-inning opportunities in Tampa Bay, and that the latter arm is the No. 1 reliever to own from the Rays bullpen.
