Diamondbacks Sign Brandon Pfaadt To Five-Year Extension
2 days agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Friday that they signed right-hander Brandon Pfaadt to an undisclosed five-year contract extension from 2026-30 with a club option for 2031 and a mutual option for the 2032 season. Pfaadt was previously set to hit free agency after the 2029 season. The D-backs are locking in one or their best young arms and buying out all of his arbitration years. The 26-year-old former fifth-round pick in 2020 out of Bellarmine University made his major-league debut in 2023 and has gone 14-19 with a 5.06 ERA (4.15 FIP) and 1.29 WHIP with 279 strikeouts and 68 walks in 277 2/3 innings over 51 appearances (50 starts) in his first two MLB seasons in the desert. On the surface, he disappointed with a 4.71 ERA in 32 starts in 2024, but he was a bit unlucky while improving both his strikeout and walk rates. Fantasy managers are hoping for a step forward in 2025.
