DeVonta Smith On The WR2/3 Borderline In Week 16
2 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Saturday. The sophomore receiver has been on a tear lately, gaining at least 100 yards or scoring a touchdown in each of the last three games. However, this week he will be without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) and will have to relinquish some targets to returning tight end Dallas Goedert. While Smith should still see a solid target share, he did average fewer targets per game this season with Goedert active, and we do not know what backup quarterback Gardner Minshew's tendencies will be in his first start with the trio of Smith, Goedert, and A.J. Brown. The matchup against Dallas is a good one, as the Cowboys allow the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. However, the 24-year-old is a riskier WR2 than most weeks without Hurts and the return of Goedert in Week 16.
