Devonta Freeman Won't Return This Year
6 years agoAtlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn told "The Morning Show with John and Hugh" on 92.9 The Game that running back Devonta Freeman (groin) will not return in the final two games of the season. Freeman was placed on Injured Reserve before the Week 7 game due to a foot injury, and he would've been able to return for the final two games. But it doesn't make sense to rush him back with the team's playoff hopes already dead. Freeman had a bust of a season, rushing only 14 times for 68 yards in two games. Because of injuries, his days as a clear lead back may be over. Tevin Coleman will lead this backfield the rest of the way and has RB2 upside due to volume. Brian Hill and Jeremy Langford will back him up with rookie Ito Smith going on IR this week.
