Devonta Freeman Heading To Injured Reserve
6 years agoAtlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman (foot, groin) will be placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. This is an unexpected move and a huge blow to the Falcons offense as well as Freeman's fantasy owners. Freeman injured his knee in the season opener against the Eagles, missed three weeks and then hurt his foot upon his return. He had just 14 carries for 68 yards and five catches for 23 yards in those two games. It's unclear if he has a chance to return later this season, so fantasy owners should put him in an IR spot if they have one available. Tevin Coleman has been a lackluster RB2 with Freeman banged up, but he should continue seeing most of the workload going forward. Rookie Ito Smith will be his complement and is now worth scooping up in most leagues as a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex, especially if you own Coleman or Freeman.
