Devonta Freeman Promoted To The Active Roster
3 years agoBaltimore Ravens running back Devonta Freeman was promoted to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on Thursday. He was signed to the Ravens practice squad before Week 1 after the team lost running backs Gus Edwards (knee), J.K. Dobbins (knee), and Justice Hill (knee) to season-ending injuries. Baltimore is expected to use a committee based on head coach John Harbaugh's recent comments. He is "blessed" to have four running backs like Ty'Son Williams, Latavius Murray, Devonta Freeman, and Le'Veon Bell. The Ravens head coach declined how the team's four backs would split the Ravens workload. "We got four backs into the mix, and we're going to play all those guys," said Harbaugh. Freeman won't have a vital role with the Ravens right away but the veteran RB is worth stashing in deep-league formats. The 29-year-old rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown over five games for the Giants in 2019.
