Devin Williams Shuts Down Rays To Earn Seventh Save
1 year agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Devin Williams secured a 6-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays with a multi-inning save on Sunday. Williams entered the game with two outs in the eight and runners at second and first. He walked a batter, but got out of the inning unscathed. He pitched around another walk in the ninth to lock down the win. Saves have been hard to come by for Williams, who picked up just his second of May in this one. It has nothing to do with his performance, though, as he has pitched to an immaculate 0.59 ERA and 0.85 WHIP with 19 strikeouts in 15 ⅓ IP. The righty should continue to be an elite closing option all season, and the save chances will come eventually.
