Devin Williams Picks Up First Win
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers shutdown reliever Devin Williams picked up his first decision of the year getting the victory in the Brewers 4-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Williams started the season off slow, but he has now only allowed one earned run across his past 8 1/3 innings spanning nine appearances. The changeup specialist has nine strikeouts over this span as well, and appears to have returned back to his unhittable 2020 form. Last year seems like forever ago, but it's worth reminding that Williams allowed only one earned run across 27 innings while striking out 53. Josh Hader is the clear closer in Milwaukee, but Devin Williams still needs to be rostered in all formats even with his mediocre full season 3.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. With the upcoming series against the likes of the Braves, Royals, and Reds, look for these recent numbers to continue.
