Devin Williams Blows Save Opportunity Versus Nationals
1 year agoMilwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams allowed two unearned runs and was charged with a blown save and a loss in the ninth inning against the Nationals on Wednesday. The inning began with a costly error by Carlos Santana. Unfortunately, the game concluded with another error, this time by Andruw Monasterio, the third baseman, whose throw to home plate went off-target during a routine force play. This costly mistake allowed the tying and winning runs to score. Williams now has a 5-3 record, a 1.52 ERA and 27 saves in 41/1 frames thrown. The 28-year-old has blown three saves this season.
