The New Jersey Devils have acquired goaltender Jacob Markstrom in a trade with the Calgary Flames. The Devils gave up defenseman Kevin Bahl and a 2025 top-10-protected first-round draft pick in the transaction. Markstrom waived his no-trade clause to get the deal done, with the Flames retaining 31.25 percent of his salary. The Swedish netminder, who spent four seasons with the Flames, has two more years to go on a contract that carries a $6 million cap hit. New Jersey was desperate to upgrade its goalie department after being ranked 27th in save percentage in 2023-24. Markstrom posted a .905 save percentage this term, going 23-23-2 with a 2.78 goals-against average. His fantasy value should receive a boost as Markstrom joins an ambitious team that hopes to get back into the playoffs next season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
