Despite Starting P14, Todd Gilliland Still Holds DFS Value At Phoenix
1 year agoOn Saturday afternoon, Todd Gilliland qualified 14th for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway. Gilliland, who enters Sunday's race fresh off a top-10 performance, will look to build off this momentum at Phoenix. While never a threat to win a race, the 23-year-old remains one of my favorite value plays in DFS each week. Given that his salary is just $5,400 this weekend and that he is averaging 29.83 DraftKings points in the aero package being used in Sunday's race, he looks to be in a good position to at least hit the 5x value we typically look for in our lineup builds. While I would not go as far as to call him a core play, the No. 38 is certainly worth a few dart throws this weekend at Phoenix.

Todd Gilliland Is Pretty Good At Darlington Despite Struggles At Intermediate Tracks
7 days agoDon't be surprised if Todd Gilliland sneaks into the top 15 in the Goodyear 400 on Sunday afternoon. In his six career starts at Darlington Raceway, Gilliland has finished 17th or better four times, including a career-best 11th-place finish in the spring race here back in 2023. This weekend, Todd ended up posting the 12th-fastest lap in qualifying and will roll off the starting grid from the sixth row on Sunday. In practice, the No. 34 Ford looked pretty decent on the long run, too, as Gilliland ranked 11th-best in terms of 30-lap average during that session. Typically not known for his intermediate prowess, Todd Gilliland has a better-than-expected record at Darlington Raceway. He's an extremely risky DFS pick on Sunday ($6,100 on DraftKings) due to his high starting position, but Gilliland could surprise people this weekend and grab a third top-10 finish of the 2025 season. He's fresh off of a 10th-place result at Martinsville one week ago.

Todd Gilliland Has Mistake-Free Day At Martinsville, Grabs Another Top-10 Finish
2 weeks agoTodd Gilliland grabbed his second top-10 finish of the season on Sunday afternoon, coming home 10th at Martinsville Speedway after a mistake-free day in the 400-lap race. This is Gilliland's second top-10 result of the season (and third top 15) through the first seven races of the year, with the other being a 10th-place finish at COTA. His race at Martinsville ends a skid for the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team, as they had a rough couple of weeks at Las Vegas and Homestead, finishing 29th and 30th (respectively) in those two races. He currently sits in 22nd-place in the points standings as the Cup Series heads to Darlington next weekend. Gilliland could be in line for another good run there, as he has finished between 11th and 17th in four of his six career starts at "The Lady in Black."

Todd Gilliland Could Surprise At Martinsville
2 weeks agoTodd Gilliland could end up with a good finish in the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway this weekend. "The Paperclip" has been a pretty solid track for Gilliland over the last few years, as he has finished 13th or better in three of his six starts at this track--including a 10th-place finish in the fall 2023 race. As far as this weekend goes, Gilliland qualified in 25th-place for Sunday's race, and he was 13th-fastest in practice when it came to 10-lap average--although it's worth noting that the No. 34 Ford never actually made a long run during time trials, so it's hard to get a good read on the speed in the car. Still, Gilliland finished 17th at Phoenix earlier this season despite starting back in 27th. We could see a similar performance out of this No. 34 Ford this weekend. At just $5,600 on DraftKings, Gilliland is a pretty good low-dollar DFS option on Sunday with a strong record at this particular race track.

Todd Gilliland Has Steadily Improved At Homestead
3 weeks agoTodd Gilliland and his No. 34 Ford will roll off the starting grid from 29th place for this weekend's Straight Talk Wireless 400 after the Front Row Motorsports driver posted a time of 32.445 seconds in qualifying on Saturday afternoon. This is par for the course for Gilliland at Homestead-Miami, as he has started from 31st, 32nd, and 29th place in his three career Cup Series starts at the track thus far. Finish-wise, Gilliland has walked away with 20th-, 25th-, and 31st-place results, respectively. In practice this weekend, Gilliland ranked 26th-fastest on the single-lap speed chart and was 23rd-fastest when it came to 30-lap average. There's some upside for him this weekend, but you should definitely temper your expectations. A top-20 finish out of Gilliland would be considered a good day out of the No. 34 team on Sunday.
