Despite Disappointing Practice, Chris Buescher Still A Viable DFS Play At Iowa
6 months agoOn Saturday afternoon, Chris Buescher qualified 15th for the Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. Buescher, who is still looking for his first victory of 2024, struggled in Friday's practice as he posted the sixth slowest time (23.476) in what was a chaotic session for the Cup drivers. While the RFK Racing star was faster during Saturday's qualifying round, it was not by much, as he only improved his time by .118 (23.358). Nevertheless, despite two underwhelming performances to start the weekend, there is still a lot to like about the 31-year-old heading into Sunday night's race. Not only does he have a May 2015 Xfinity win at this track, but his average of 52.76 DraftKings points on short tracks in the Next Gen car is the fifth-highest average of any driver in the Cup Series. It is also important to note that out of 34 races at this track (Xfinity and truck combined), the winning driver has started no worse than P16, a stat that gives his starting position additional value. Between his proven success on short tracks and his favorable starting position, the No. 17 is a driver you will want to have exposure to in DFS this weekend.
