DeShone Kizer Faces Competition for Backup Role
6 years agoAlmost two weeks into training camp and Green Bay Packers quarterback Deshone Kizer is still fighting to win the second-string role. Green Bay traded former first round pick, cornerback Damarius Randall, to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the unpolished passer. It was seen as a move to shore up the quarterback spot after many disappointing starts by quarterback Brett Hundley. However, Kizer not only hasn’t separated himself from Hundley but is also facing real competition from undrafted free agent Tim Boyle. Kizer is a very talented prospect, but has struggled with accuracy and his fundamentals throughout camp. Still, it seems unlikely that Green Bay would cut the player. He should not be considered as a fantasy relevant player unless Aaron Rodgers is injured and even though should probably be avoided.
