Derrick Rose Likely To Become Free Agent
2 years agoNew York Knicks guard Derrick Rose is most likely going to become a free agent this summer. The veteran guard has a $15.6 million team option for the 2023-2024 campaign. That is quite a lot of money for a player that the Knicks rarely used last season. Rose averaged 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 12.5 minutes per game through 27 games this past season. The Knicks have good young guards in Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley. That doesn't leave many minutes for any other guards, so it's hard to imagine they'd pay Rose over $15 million to play a minimal role off the bench. It's unknown what the 34-year-old still has left in the tank. He could probably still play a minimal role as a veteran backup, but it'd have to be on a much cheaper deal.
