Derrick Jones Jr. Comes Up Big Off The Bench
6 years agoMiami Heat small forward Derrick Jones Jr. continued to impress on Thursday, coming off the bench to score 15 points in a 101-99 win over Houston. He shot 3-for-8 from the field and did a great job getting on the line, going 8-for-11 with his free throws. Jones Jr. also had eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. It's been a great story with him this month, as he's gone from just a high-flying dunker to a guy who actually looks like a good NBA player. He's averaging 9.6 points per game with 7.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals in December. Jones Jr. has replaced Wayne Ellington in the rotation, and with the team winning, his minutes look safe for now.
