D'Ernest Johnson Set For Expanded Role If Kareem Hunt Is Traded
2 years agoCleveland Browns running back D'Ernest Johnson could have an expanded role with the team if backfield teammate Kareem Hunt is moved before next Tuesday's trade deadline. The Browns are listening to offers for Hunt as he is eligible to become a free agent after the 2022 season. After receiving double-digit rushing attempts in each of the first five games of the season, Hunt's touches have been down in the last two weeks. He's carried the ball a combined nine times against New England and Baltimore for 16 net yards, plus one four-yard reception on three total targets. Some NFL teams are searching for running back help and looking to strike a deal with the Browns. If Hunt is traded by the deadline, Johnson would see an uptick in usage and would compliment Nick Chubb in Cleveland's backfield. Johnson is a name to monitor in free agency and should be stashed in all league formats in case Hunt is dealt.
