Derek Holland Joins Tigers On Minor League Contract
4 years agoLeft-handed pitcher Derek Holland has been inked to a Minor League deal with the Detroit Tigers that carries an invitation to Major League Spring Training. Holland, a 12-year veteran, last appeared with Pittsburgh in 2020 and posted a 6.86 ERA over 12 appearances (five starts). After spending eight years with the Rangers to open his career, Holland has bounced around considerably, appearing in the bigs with four teams over the past four years, both as a starter and reliever. With the Tigers having multiple spots open for competition on their pitching staff, it's within the realm of possibility that Holland could begin the year in the rotation. Even if that's the case, fantasy managers will need to see him string together some solid outings before adding him off of the waiver wire.
